Keep up the good work David!

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Apparently when the tea party crowd isn’t packing the audience, David Vitter doesn’t get such a warm reception at his campaign events.

Check out this video of  Vitter stepping onto a yacht walking into a town hall-style campaign event in Harrisonburg, La.  No doubt expecting the kind of artificially ginned up audience that his staff usually provides, Vitter barely broke stride as someone yelled out  “keep up the good work David!”

When Vitter stopped accept the accolades, the same man in the audience shouted out “I was talking about the photographer,” gesturing to an employee of the local newspaper, apparently also named David.

As the crowd erupted in laughter  the voice in the audience said “we don’t know about you yet.”

Clearly these folks did not get the memo from the Vitter Campaign/Senate Office.

Vitter’s Coming for You, Canada

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

For years, David Vitter has been pushing legislation to allow American to buy prescription drugs from Canadian internet sites. At a campaign event yesterday, Vitter said his ultimate aim was not to provide cheaper medicines for Americans, but to …wait for it… destroy the Canadian health care sytem. TPM has the basics:

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) isn’t content to fight attempts at government-run health care here — he wants to destroy it in other countries, too.

The central Louisiana newspaper The Town Talk reports that Vitter was asked at a town hall meeting about the fact that he opposes government health care, but supports re-importing prescription drugs from, as a constituent said, “countries that have socialized medicine.” Vitter has campaigned in the past on re-importing drugs from Canada.
